Replacing worn kitchen doors and surfaces in Devizes

The old budget Howdens kitchen doors and surfaces in this Devizes home had been fitted in a hurry by the client’s builder many years ago and now needed replacing. The client asked Nick to assess whether the cabinetry was worth saving.

Nick found the cabinetry in good general condition, with only a few minor repairs needed. The decision was made to keep both the cabinetry and the layout unchanged, avoiding unnecessary waste and limiting disruption in the kitchen.

The kitchen refresh

20 new solid oak doors: The existing doors were replaced with solid oak doors. Most were standard sizes, with the supplier making some to custom sizes.
New quartz worktops: The old wooden work surfaces were replaced with quartz worktops, retaining the existing kitchen layout.
New sink and mixer tap: A new metal undermount sink and a new mixer tap were fitted as part of the refresh.
Upgraded drawer: The broken drawer and its runners were replaced with an upgraded soft-close drawer.

What changed, and what stayed

The cabinetry and layout were retained, with 20 new solid oak doors and new quartz worktops replacing the old doors and surfaces.
The project cost was between £10,000 and £15,000.
Work in the home took about 10 days, spread over several weeks.
